User Research: How do we go about it?

A few principles
1. Listen carefully; accept and give a positive response to everything they say. Your objective is to understand, not to pursuade. Generally, the more you tell them about your opinions, they more they’ll try to tell you what they think you want to hear – if they like your opinions – or try to argue with you if they don’t.
The point is to get as close as possible to the honesty of where they’re coming from and what they actually think / feel / do – so give them space and acceptance to express that and you’ll get a much better insight.
2. Document it! There are photo and video bits on this website where you can upload photos of people you speak to and any video footage you take, and then write notes about what stands out to you about what they’ve said. After the research we’ll print out all the images you put up there and bring them along to help our ‘insight’ session :)
