Stop buying bottled water
It's a terrible waste.
Fill up from a tap instead.
Is there another solution to stop the trade in bottled water?

Help turn this thought into action.
I use it when away from home as it filters out chlorine and other chemicals. OK in soft water areas as I don't think it filters out hardness. Saves so much time and money in having to hunt out supermarkets for large bottles of water. There are versions for areas where tap water isn't safe to drink as well.

You might want to try something like these very cool looking tap water bottles.
I use one now, and it never fails to raise smiles.

I successfully broke my husband's fizzy water habit by buying a soda stream. It is difficult to do an exact calculation, but I am pretty sure it must be a better option than buying all those bottles which have been manufactured, filled with water and transported half round the world!

it is illegal to be refused a glass of tap water in a cafe or restaurant in the UK - so be loud and proud and ask!

A town in Australia has just banned the sale of bottled water! But they appear to have handy public water fountains where people can top up their reusable bottles. They're not so common over here.

This sounds like an excellent idea. We need radical action like this.

Haha Spinney, i was just about to mention that :) Yeah this town is the first town in Australia to ban bottled water. They are now selling reusable bottles in their stores, and every store has a public tap in it, as well as on the streets to refil your bottle. hopefully this will spur on more action in Australia. I've really noticed recently that despite my lack of confidence in Australia's eco effort, compared to the rest of the world we aren't doing half bad, and with stuff like this change is surely to really start to kick in soon!

Since travelling, I've also come to realise that Australia is doing a lot more for eco browny points! I just assumed that the uk would be years ahead of us. Can't wait for this to catch on everywhere else. I've been using the same bottle for my water for 2 years.
